Monitoring and evaluating guidance

Monitoring and evaluating guidance

Monitoring and evaluation are key processes to help you effectively manage your new project to deliver high quality outcomes on time, evidence how your project has succeeded, and enable you to share evidence of good practice with others. It will also contribute to an overall assessment of how well the Structural Funds have worked in Wales.

Monitoring and evaluation plan

Your organisation may already have detailed procedures in place for monitoring and evaluation, but you do need to ensure that your plan and procedures are sufficient to meet the requirements of WEFO and the European Commission, outlines the systems and indicators you will use, and how your evaluation activity will be implemented.

You will be expected to prepare your monitoring and evaluation plan during the project development process, with WEFO on hand to provide advice at the relevant stage of your project’s development. The monitoring and evaluation plan will then form part of your project’s evidence pack.

Guidance and further information

Monitoring and Evaluation Guidance is published on this site to help you develop your monitoring and evaluation plan for your project. There is also other information available, including definitions of ERDF and ESF indicators, reporting jobs created, and template examples for gathering data.

If you have any queries relating to the monitoring and evaluation of projects, in the first instance please contact your WEFO Project Development Officer, who will pass any specific issues to WEFO’s Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Team for further advice.
