Frequently asked questions

For the programming period 2007-13, within both the ERDF and ESF Convergence and Regional Competitiveness and Employment Programmes, and within all Priorities and Themes, provision has been made to “support trans-national (and inter-regional actions), in particular through the sharing of information, experiences, results and good practices, and through developing complimentary approaches and co-ordinated or joint action”.

How does it work?

Projects are the means through which the ERDF and ESF Structural Funds are dispersed in Wales. For the 2007- 2013 Programmes, project activities which involve trans-national links can be eligible for support provided it can be shown that the activity will bring benefit to Wales. This can be in terms of:

  • Sharing or exploring best practice and expertise;
  • Identifying innovative ideas; or
  • Testing novel approaches or techniques;

Each of the Welsh Programmes contain suggestions on the type of activity that would lend itself to Transnational working.
