Development of European programmes 2014-2020

Development of European programmes 2014-2020

Wales is a significant beneficiary of the European Structural Funds programmes and is engaging fully, with the UK Government, the European Commission and Welsh partners on the negotiation, development and delivery of any future programmes.

Any future Structural Funds programmes for Wales will continue to seek to reduce regional disparities and help to deliver, in partnership, the strategies and policies of the EU and Welsh Government.

The future European programmes in Wales will include the Structural Funds, rural development and fisheries programmes. It is important that these programmes are developed in a joined up way to achieve greatest impact for the region.

Several opportunities will be taking place over the coming months to enable partners to fully engage in post 2013 development. These include the recently launched reflection exercise (closes 27 January 2012), the European Programmes Partnership Forum and future workstreams.

These early preparations will help ensure the Welsh Government is best placed to conduct negotiations with the UK Government and the EC on the detail of the programmes during 2013, and help ensure that any programmes can begin in early 2014.
