Project inspections and audit
Project inspection visits and audits ensure your project is being delivered in line with EC regulations and for the benefit of Wales.
Project Inspection and Verification (PIV) team
The Welsh European Funding Office PIV team will undertake a project inspection visit to help minimise any operational and management problems arising in projects. As well as an inception meeting, project quarterly reviews, and checks on payment claims during your project’s lifecycle.
The main reason for these project inspection visits and checks is to share best practice and ensure that projects:
- comply with European Regulations and the conditions of grant
- apply effective management and control systems
- have a fully transparent audit trail, including retention of supporting documentation
European Funds Audit Team (EFAT)
In line with Article 62 of EC Regulation 1083/2006, full independent audits are undertaken on a small sample of projects. This work is performed by EFAT (part of the Welsh Government), who are the designated Audit Authority for the Welsh 2007 – 2013 structural funds programmes.
