ESF Convergence Priority 4 Match Fund

ESF Convergence Priority 4 Match Fund

A Making the Connections Match Funding Grant has been created. All projects applying for Structural Funds support under ESF Convergence Priority 4 will be eligible to apply. Applications from other ESF Convergence priorities, or projects applying under the ESF Competitiveness programme are not eligible.

This limited match funding pot will provide a maximum of £1m support in any one financial year. The level of match funding available to each project applicant is a maximum of 25% towards their total eligible project costs.

It is a competitive process and all applications will be assessed independently of WEFO by a panel of officials drawn from the Welsh Assembly Government. In this regard it is following the precedent and format established by the existing Targeted Match Fund.

Further details and copies of the application documents are available on the Welsh Assembley Government website.

Why this match funding was created

The Welsh Assembly Government’s central match funding towards European Structural Fund projects, the Targeted Match Funding (TMF), is over-subscribed.

A number of projects under ESF Priority 4 Themes 1 and 2 are at the business plan, detailed assessment stage (of WEFO’s application process) and specific match funding may be required to support these and future projects. The purpose is to aid the delivery of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Improvement and Efficiency agenda, across public services.
